Siemens Medical Solutions, Malvern, Pa, unveiled MobileTT XP CR, the first mobile x-ray unit with an integrated computed radiography reader, at the 92nd Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America in Chicago, currently in progress.

Designed to let health care providers optimize workflow by enabling bedside imaging, the new MobileTT XP CR has controls that let users perform basic image processing tasks directly on the system, such as brightness and contrast adjustment, and edge enhancement.

Some of the unit’s attributes provide benefits that digital radiography cannot easily match, such as the use of different imaging formats with different imaging cassettes, allowing clinicians to readily image various anatomical regions, as well as pediatric and incubator situations.

The system has an integrated CR reader with a reading capacity of 60 cassettes per hour that enables it to serve as a centralized single plate CR reader for multiple rooms or ICUs and can also be used as emergency backup for a centralized CR reader.
