The patient-side system features a high weight capacity and enhancements for positioning and safety.

Shimadzu Medical Systems USA, a subsidiary of Shimadzu Corp, launched the FLUOROspeed X1 edition ST, a patient-side conventional radiographic and fluoroscopic table system.

The system, which is the newest US-based product in the FLUOROspeed series, features a 665-pound static patient weight capacity and a 500-pound all-motion weight capacity. It is designed to perform both bariatric and routine daily exams, including applications for the chest, abdomen, extremities, upper gastrointestinal exams, and joint injections, according to a press release from Shimadzu Medical Systems USA.

The system was engineered based on user feedback from the US market and includes a park-anywhere imaging deck. It features an ambidextrous control handle for the imaging deck and fingertip access to anatomical programmed radiography, image recording functions, and site-specific programmable function buttons to improve workflow.

The ST edition introduces several enhancements to the standard configuration, including:

  • A cross-hair line marker under the deck for radiation-free patient positioning,
  • LED lighting under the deck to support puncture procedures,
  • A new lead apron featuring a transparent viewing window for a clear view of the procedure field, and
  • Radiation Dose Structured Report as a standard feature.

The system is equipped with a 17-inch by 17-inch dynamic digital X-ray detector in the table bucky, allowing it to be used for both fluoroscopy and radiographic exams. With a 31.5-inch aperture opening between the tabletop and deck, the system provides access for imaging patients in wheelchairs and can fit in smaller rooms where space is limited.

The functionality and versatility of the room can be increased by adding a second X-ray tube on an overhead rail, according to the press release. The system is designed to offer a balance of functionality for a wide range of general applications while remaining practically priced, according to Shimadzu Medical Systems USA.
