The acquisition expands Transcat’s biomedical service footprint across the Southeast, including calibration, repair, and preventive maintenance for healthcare facilities.

Transcat has acquired Southeastern Biomedical Associates for $12.8 million in cash, effective Aug 31, 2026. The acquisition expands Transcat’s accredited biomedical calibration, equipment repair, and preventive maintenance services throughout the southeastern United States.

Based in Granite Falls, NC, Southeastern Biomedical Associates provides calibration, repair, electrical safety inspection, and regulatory compliance services to hospital networks and healthcare facilities. The company’s services conform to both ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001 standards. In addition to service, the company sells biomedical equipment, patient-ready accessories, and equipment parts.

The acquisition is intended to build scale in regulated end markets where accredited calibration is critical to patient safety and regulatory compliance, according to a release from Transcat. Transcat operates more than 30 calibration labs across North and Central America.

“The acquisition of Southeastern Biomedical reinforces Transcat’s strategy of deepening our presence in the Life Science sector, one of the most regulated and mission-critical end markets we serve,” says Jaime Irick, president and CEO, in a release. “Southeastern’s reputation for high quality and a customer-first approach supporting hospital networks throughout the southeastern region of the United States and beyond builds on our established leadership in biomedical calibration and will position us to service a much larger geography with a consistent focus on quality and timely service for our customers in these critical end markets.”

Southeastern Biomedical Associates owners Boyd Campbell and Greg Johnson will remain with Transcat to lead the growth of the combined biomedical business.

“There was never a doubt that Transcat was the right partner to take our company to the next level of growth,” says Greg Johnson, co-owner of Southeastern Biomedical Associates, in a release. “Transcat has developed a reputation in this industry for treating acquired employees and customers right, and for focusing on the key attributes and operating principles that have made Southeastern successful over time.”

The purchase price is subject to certain customary adjustments and holdback provisions. According to Transcat, the acquisition supports the company’s fiscal 2027 outlook, which includes continued mergers and acquisitions and service gross margin expansion.
