In almost all of my interviews with third-party service organizations, the interviewee says that lately, there has been increasing competition in the service industry. Thoughts on this are mixed: some vendors are in favor of the competition because it highlights their superior service, while others complain that the new companies are creating a bidding war in the industry. In a recent interview, one company mentioned that the increased competition is good because it is beneficial to hospitals and biomeds.
Chances are, your facility has been attempting to lower costs and do more with less, theoretically making increased third-party service competition beneficial to that aim. Have you seen more value from third-party service contracts lately? Have prices been dropping on service contracts? Or has your facility decided to work with a new company to take advantage of these prices?
