A three-part virtual conference beginning on October 2 will cover the risks of robotic surgery systems and effective approaches to surgical robot risk management and training. Â The conference will be produced by ECRI Institute in collaboration with Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Conn.
The first session, “The Building Blocks of a Robotic Surgery Program: A Risk Management Approach,” takes place on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, ET. Subsequent sessions will take place at the same time of day on Thursdays on October 30 (“Maximizing Staff and Provider Training and Credentialing”) and November 13, 2014 (“Honors Program: Case Studies Demonstrating Opportunities for Prevention of Complications and Risk Mitigation”).
According to ECRI, there are three main learning outcomes for the conference:
- To learn the major elements of a comprehensive risk management program for robotic surgery,
- To support the development of a robotic surgery credentialing and training program,
- To identify specific competencies recommended for surgeons and other members of the surgical robotics team.
