We have recently started managing the service of ultrasound transducers in-house. What is your suggestion on tracking replacement probes and/or repaired probes to determine when a “probe pool” or partnership service agreement is necessary? Thank you.

It is important to track the movement of all ultrasound probes in your hospital. Start with creating an inventory of ultrasound probes. Then, each time you swap a probe, document the date, serial number, warranty period, and vendor name. After you build some historical data, you can analyze your cost and the viability of your repair/replacement options.
