Siemens Healthcare recently opened its second ultrasound factory in the US. The 12,000-square-foot facility in Plymouth Meeting, Pa, will manufacture the Acuson Freestyle ultrasound system. The facility joins the facility in Buffalo Grove, Ill, that manufactures Siemens’ Acuson S ultrasound system.
The new Acuson Freestyle is a wireless ultrasound system. “The ACUSON Freestyle system’s wireless transducer technology offers greater flexibility and ease in obtaining accurate transducer placement, and simplifies sterilization in interventional settings,” said Jeffrey Bundy, PhD, CEO, Siemens Ultrasound.
