Adlink Technology announced its new medical panel personal computer (PC), the MLC 4-21, which is equipped with the 4th generation Intel Core i7/i5 processor to provide improved computing power and multitasking capabilities in medical imaging settings. The company reports that the MLC 4-21 PC is completely fanless, and is fully-sealed in housing with only flat surfaces—no grooves or joints—to ensure fast, easy, and effective cleaning in medical environments. The MLC 4-21 is approved for IEC/EN60601-1 (4th Edition) and IEC/EN60601-1-2 medical patient safety certifications.
According to Adlink, the new medical-grade PC offers a 21.5-inch touchscreen with full HD resolution (1920×1080) and anti-glare coating for improved viewing capability, and multi-touch gesture control that works even when the user is wearing protective gloves. The fully-sealed aluminum housing is designed to protect against dust and liquid intrusion during normal operation in patient care or operating rooms. The sealed design can accommodate the use of all commonly used disinfectants and cleaning agents. In contrast to standard PCs, the MLC 4-21 panel PC’s sealed, gap-free flat surface housing and fanless design is intended to prevent the accumulation of microbes to maintain the hygienic conditions necessary in medical environments.
Designed to meet the demanding needs of healthcare facilities requiring accurate medical imaging and easy access to patient data, the MLC 4-21 has two HDMI ports and one VGA output as standard equipment for a flexible arrangement of external monitors. Standard interfaces include two USB 2.0, two USB 3.0, and audio ports. The MLC 4-21 is available with galvanic isolated COM ports and/or LAN ports to connect to medical devices. It is also designed with electromagnetic emission shielding to minimize interference with nearby imaging and other equipment in accordance with IEC-60601-1-2.
