I currently work for a third-party sales and service company for digitizers and dry printers but would like to work in sales and service of ultrasound machines. What are your thoughts on the future demand for service and sales of ultrasound machines? And where do you recommend I start training? Thank you.

I believe the future is bright for ultrasound service for several reasons: 1) Many people are maintaining their equipment longer than usual due to the sluggish economy and concerns about health care reform, and 2) Independent service organizations are gaining market share due to folks looking for alternatives to expensive OEM service.

As far as training, there are many options available to you. I would recommend beginning with ultrasound basics, preventive maintenance, and DICOM to establish a foundation and then move on the manufacturer specific platforms, all of which Conquest Imaging offers. Ideally, you want to be in a position where your employer will absorb the cost of your training.
