As someone who worked from home before it was trendy (or pandemic-related), I’m used to being alone. But the solitude has never bothered me—it’s just forced me to find other means of entertainment (when I’m done editing, of course.) Enter: podcasts. Admittedly, I was late to the podcast party—when someone asked me my favorite podcast in 2019, I stared blankly—but I’m now hooked. Right now, I’m subscribed to 18 podcasts—my favorite of which is the MEDQOR Podcast Network.
Parent company to 24×7, MEDQOR is home to several allied health brands, which cover the gamut from sleep medicine to rehab facility management. Similarly, MEDQOR’s podcast network features a range of healthcare-related topics that are as diverse as its content.
As of this writing, 24×7’s channel on the MEDQOR Podcast Network has four exclusive episodes related to some of the most pressing issues in HTM—compensation, cybersecurity, the Right to Repair, and overcoming staffing challenges. Three of the episodes feature my wonderful co-host, the “Bearded Biomed” (aka: Chace Torres), who has already made a name for himself in the podcast space. (Subscribe to his eponymous channel on all major listening apps.)
But my proudest podcast moment, to date, was the episode I taped solo with Danielle McGeary, AAMI’s first vice president of HTM. I’ve admired Danielle for years, and there was something so powerful about sitting down, woman to woman, with someone who has broken so many glass ceilings in a field that has traditionally been male dominated. Danielle’s truly a trailblazer (and warm! and funny!), and I highly encourage you to listen to the March 17 episode on the MEDQOR Podcast Network, titled “Combating HTM’s Staffing Challenges.”
In the podcast, Danielle talks about the steps AAMI is taking to bring new blood to the field—including its apprenticeship initiative—and reveals how she got into HTM. Suffice it to say that it’s one you don’t want to miss—so be sure to subscribe to the MEDQOR Podcast Network.
Clearly, podcasts are something we are very excited about, and 24×7 promises to continue bringing you the most cutting-edge content on all digital platforms. But it’s you—those in the trenches, who work day in and day out in the HTM field—who know the industry best. And it’s you who I will continue to rely on to provide me with podcast topics.
So, what do you want to hear about? Let me know at [email protected] and I’ll mull it over with the Bearded Biomed, another person in the trenches. Happy listening!
