Masimo, Irvine, Calif, announces the full market release of its noninvasive and continuous hemoglobin (SpHb) monitoring technology.
Previously, SpHb was available only at select hospitals that participated in the technology’s limited market release, which began in September 2008.
The technology will have far reaching effects on patient care from surgery through to recovery. With it, medical staff can identify trends in hemoglobin change as they occur, leading to prompt detection of internal bleeding and more appropriate administration of blood transfusions.
SpHb is part of the Masimo Rainbow SET Pulse CO-Oximetry patient monitoring platform. The technology is currently only available in Masimo Radical-7 and Rad-87 bedside patient monitors, but will soon be offered in handheld monitors and for select multiparameter patient monitoring brands.
