AAMI has announced that it will conduct a free online demonstration of its HTM benchmarking platform, which is designed to help healthcare technology management departments measure their budgets, personnel, practices, and policies against similar departments at other facilities. The HTM benchmarking demo will be held on Wednesday, October 14, at 2:00 PM (ET).
According to AAMI, its Benchmarking Solutions-HTM is a web-based tool with nearly 75 benchmarking and best practice measurements, plus a tool to help HTM departments analyze benchmarking data. HTM departments can enter their information and then compare their organization to similar organizations.
Developed by experts in the field, this tool provides detailed benchmarking information on important measures, such as budgeting levels for maintenance, office expense, training, and computers/software; staffing levels allocated to management, repair, and other responsibilities; cost of maintenance contracts; hours spent on maintenance and repair; personnel qualifications and responsibilities; reporting structures; number of devices maintained by a clinical engineering program, and percentage of scheduled inspections that identify a need for corrective maintenance.
AAMI says results from the tool can be used to better understand an HTM department’s strengths, identify areas for improvement, and provide data to colleagues or supervisors.
The hour-long demo on October 14 will be conducted by Frank Painter, MS, CCE, clinical engineering program director and professor at University of Connecticut. Painter be joined by AAMI benchmarking experts Matt Baretich and Ted Cohen.
