A few associations have recently held symposiums, and our guest blogger this week, Jeff Long, CBET, a BMET III at Shenandoah Shared Hospital Services in Harrisonburg, Va, says these conferences provide opportunities to talk with experts who can share solutions to problems.

Here Jeff offers his best “symposium” practices:  “Learn from other’s success—it saves pain. You can learn from a vendor or colleague who has been successful at something you’re trying to do. For instance, if you want to bring CT in-house, by asking you learn you first need training, then you can move to first call.”

He adds that these meetings provide networking you can’t get off the Web: “Everyone is helpful too.”

Do have an agenda when you attend meetings? Do you specifically seek out people who can help with a challenge? Share your ideas here and our thanks to Jeff for his ideas.
