The seal is intended to help buyers easily identify medical supplies and PPE as US-made and aligned with key safety standards, amid federal efforts to promote domestic manufacturing through newly announced reciprocal tariffs.

The American Medical Manufacturers Association (AMMA), an alliance of medical equipment manufacturers, has launched a new certification seal to identify US-made medical supplies and personal protective equipment.

The “AMMA Certified USA Made Product” seal aims to help healthcare providers, consumers, and corporate buyers easily identify domestically manufactured products that meet established safety and quality standards. The initiative comes as the federal government emphasizes reshoring critical supply chains and reducing reliance on foreign-made goods, including through recently announced reciprocal tariffs.

“In an era where global supply chains are increasingly unpredictable, investing in domestic manufacturing is not just smart—it’s essential,” says AMMA executive director Eric Axel in a release.

Signal of Domestic Production

To display the “AMMA Certified USA Made Product” seal on their products, manufacturers must become AMMA members and agree to specific terms and conditions outlined by the association. Once approved, they can showcase the seal on their packaging.

According to AMMA, the seal is the first of its kind within the medical manufacturing sector and is intended to signal a manufacturer’s commitment to regulatory standards such as those set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the National Fire Protection Association, and the American National Standards Institute.

AMMA also notes that domestic production can help reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, improve supply chain stability, and contribute to economic growth by supporting local jobs.
