The ECRI Institute Patient Safety Organization (PSO) announced on March 19 that it was selected to provide patient safety services for the Virginia PSO. According to ECRI, PSOs provide a protected legal environment for analyzing patient safety adverse events.
The services ECRI will provide the Virginia PSO include a system for collecting and reporting data about patient safety and ongoing analysis of adverse events and other information from participating Virginia hospitals and health systems. The Virginia PSO is part of the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association and the Virginia Hospital Research & Education Foundation.
In a press release, Virginia PSO representative Abraham Segres said that the partnership with ECRI will “enable Virginia healthcare providers to combine their quality and safety efforts with those of providers across the country to improve healthcare for all individuals receiving care in Virginia.”
