Virtual Imaging, a Canon company, has been offered a contract with Vizient for digital radiography (DR) equipment. Vizient represents approximately $100 billion in annual health care purchasing. As an approved supplier, Virtual Imaging can sell its DR equipment at negotiated pricing to the group purchasing organization’s members, which include academic medical centers, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks, non-acute health care providers, and pediatric facilities that access Vizient’s contract portfolio.
This contract with Vizient represents for Virtual Imaging an additional milestone for the Canon company, which in 1998 launched the CXDI-11 DR system, the world’s first DR system featuring a proprietary-developed x-ray image sensor.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to serve the Vizient membership as they continue to transition to DR solutions,” says Tsuneo Imai, vice president of the health care solutions division within the business imaging solutions group at Canon U.S.A. and president of Virtual Imaging.
“With nearly 20 years of experience providing Canon [DR] detectors to the U.S. market, and a full portfolio of RadPro1 radiographic solutions, we are excited to share our story and technologies with the Vizient members,” Imai adds.
