Carestream Health, Rochester, NY, has released a new wireless, small-format digital radiography detector. The DRX 2530C offers x-ray exams for pediatric, orthopedic, and general radiology applications and emits a lower radiation dose than CR cassettes or gadolinium scintillator detectors. The unit’s small size (25 cm by 30 cm) was designed for use in spaces such as the pediatric ICU; it fits in trays underneath incubators, allowing technologists to obtain images of babies without moving them. It can also be used in tabletop exams that require a patient to hold the detector or exams that require a smaller field of view.
