At the American Society of Echocardiography’s 27th Annual Scientific Sessions, Fujifilm Medical Systems USA, Inc. showcased the latest generation of Synapse Cardiovascular, a cardiology image management and reporting system with new enhancements for echocardiography. The company also showcased the mobile SonoSite iViz, its latest system to integrate ultrasound with medical IT.

“Today’s busy cardiologists and sonographers are seeking reporting tools that help them manage and document more efficiently so that they can focus on improving patient outcomes,” says Johann Fernando, PhD, chief operating officer of Fujifilm. “Our enhancements for echocardiography are the result of Fujifilm’s history of innovation coupled with real-world input we sought from cardiologists.”

Synapse Cardiovascular enhances workflow, image review, and reporting for cardiology. The newest version also includes redesigned modules built on the American Society of Echocardiography standards for adult, stress, pediatric, and fetal studies. Other enhancements include an upgraded measurement package, auto-summary statements, configurable macros, Z-scores, and data trending.

The Synapse Cardiovascular technology is designed to help clinicians and sonographers keep up with the increase in echocardiograms, leaving more time to care for patients. What’s more, Fujifilm’s SonoSite iViz is the first ultrasound system in the industry to provide bidirectional communication with electronic medical records (EMRs) via the Fujifilm Synapse EMR gateway. This is designed to eliminate manual entry and save time.
