ECRI Institute has released a new mobile-friendly decision support tool designed for hospital supply chain teams. The SelectPlus Market Analytics tool, an enhancement to ECRI’s SelectPlus advisory service, provides customizable views of trends in the medical technology marketplace.
“Our comprehensive market research application in this new, mobile-friendly platform allows users to track, trend, and compare technologies, manufacturers, and models all on one interactive graph—in a value analysis meeting, in the OR, in a coffee shop, or anywhere,” Jennifer Myers, ECRI Institute’s vice president of Select health technology services, said in a statement.
The system includes comparative data on purchasing trends, market share, price benchmarking, configuration analyses, popular models and manufacturers, and functionally similar devices and models. The tool also covers service contract information such as OEM versus third-party pricing, level of service, and point-of-sale versus post warranty. Users can filter results according to region, facility type, bed size, trade-ins, used equipment, group buy-ins, and promotional deals. An online capital budgeting feature allows users to build several normalized budgets, including enterprise-wide capital budgets and smaller renovation projects.
“The SelectPlus Market Analytics tool lets us view financial, quality, user satisfaction, and system configuration data across multiple vendors,” said Jon Reiners, director of materials management at Community Hospital in McCook, Neb. “The price benchmarking gives us the upper hand in vendor negotiations.”
