After more than a decade of working together on patient safety initiatives, ECRI Institute Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) have formalized their partnership. The groups announced their new relationship on October 29, 2013.
According to ECRI Institute PSO, medication errors are the most common type of medical hazard, accounting for about 30% of all patient safety events. By analyzing such errors, the groups say, they hope to help providers identify medication-related risks and prevent the recurrence of errors.
