Utah-based BC Technical announced its purchase of Polaris Medical Imaging, located in Texas, for an undisclosed amount. Polaris offers service, systems, and parts for GE MRI and CT systems.

The move helps BC Technical to expand its capabilities in MR and CT modalities, as well as in providing parts for NM, PET, and PET/CT. The company is the non-OEM provider of medical imaging solutions, provides NM, SPECT/CT, PET, PET/CT, MRI, and CT systems in all 50 states in the United States.

“We set out to become the only true alternative to the OEM, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. We have no plans to slow down,” said Mark Alvarez, BC Technical president and CEO.

Rob Maly, a Polaris cofounder, added, “We were at a point of growth that required additional resources, and we knew BC Technical was the perfect springboard to take Polaris to the next level.”
