The InterMed Group, Alachua, Fla., announces the formation of a cybersecurity suite of services that caters to the rising demand for stronger cyber protections within healthcare. InterMed’s program combines education, physical inventory assessment, and integrated services for prevention, detection and containment, and assimilation of results.

With an increasing amount of healthcare technology being connected to or housing electronic protected health information, there is growing concern about cybersecurity vulnerabilities. InterMed’s approach to “cyber hygiene” is designed to be paired with the medical equipment and staffing aspects of each facility; it has been designed to be implemented with minimal disruption.

Scott Nudelman, InterMed’s current chief operating officer (COO), has accepted the role as cybersecurity officer/ vice president of support operations, effective July 1. Nudelman will concurrently direct InterMed’s JumpTeams Services as the new products and rapid deployment capabilities of JumpTeams may frequently intersect depending on client needs. Hand-picked JumpTeams technicians will receive selected training and testing, including Security Plus and HCISPP certification.

Nudelman joined InterMed in February 2017 as chief operations officer after having spent over 30 years in the industry including over 21 years in roles such as MV Operations Manager and senior director clinical engineering for GE Healthcare. He has a degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in electrical engineering technology.

Nudelman spoke out about his new role, commenting: “InterMed has grown significantly over the past few years, both in size and in the development of core services. Our focus on training and consistent service delivery has accomplished most of the goals that Rick Staab and I originally envisioned for the COO.

“I am grateful to the InterMed team for this effort, and for this opportunity to pursue a passion I have had for some time,” he adds. InterMed is taking a leadership role to deliver integrated cyber-solutions for our clients regardless of their size. I am eager to use these services in tandem with our key industry partners to provide quantifiable solutions for our clients.”

Rick Staab, CHTM, CEO of The InterMed Group, also addressed the new initiative: “These services will have a measurable and immediate impact in the healthcare industry,” Staab says. “Scott Nudelman is one of our most valuable leaders, and he has been an amazing COO. Assigning him to this leadership role underscores InterMed’s true commitment to improving medical device cybersecurity and the healthcare industry.”
