The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation’s (AAMI) board of directors has donated $500,000 to create the AAMI Foundation’s Healthcare Technology Safety Council (HTSC). The HTSC will tackle issues involving health care technologies, such as overmedication from infusion pumps and critical alarms being unheeded.
The goal of the council is to address these problems through research, publications, events, and by taking positions on certain solutions. The council is housed within the AAMI Foundation and was launched last year to focus on infusion system issues.
The HTSC will be comprised of a chair and vice-chair, in addition to seven to 10 members. It will set strategy and guide the work of the infusion systems steering committee and future panels.
