Siemens Medical Solutions will bring together health care professionals from across the country who are helping improve the delivery and the efficiency of health care through medical and information technologies at its annual “Innovations” customer symposium. “Innovations” will convene medical imaging and IT customers, enabling them to enhance their own fields of expertise while learning how information and medical technologies can drive dramatic change within the industry.

Themed “Innovations ‘06: Setting the Trend in Healthcare,” the symposium will take place at the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas, July 23-26, 2006.

Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the US House of Representatives and founder of the Center for Health Transformation, will be a keynote speaker at the symposium. Gingrich will discuss his vision of a 21st century modernized health care system based on electronic health records (EHRs) and how such a system could save lives and dramatically lower the cost of health care in the United States.

“Our top priority at Siemens is to develop solutions that focus on the clinical and operational challenges that our customers face every day,” said Heinrich Kolem, PhD, president, Siemens Medical Solutions, USA. “Through our Innovations symposium we can enable peer-to-peer discussions among our customers about solutions to these challenges that will help improve workflow, enhance healthcare delivery, and generate better outcomes for our customers and their patients.”

“Innovations” is an annual symposium developed exclusively for customers of Siemens Medical Solutions. There will be more than 300 breakout sessions, 60% of which will be conducted by customers.

Educational tracks will be offered in Clinical Workflow Management, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Imaging Solutions, Ambulatory Management, Revenue Cycle Management, and IT Management. Continuing education credit is available for select sessions through applicable accrediting organizations.

Another keynote speaker at Innovations ’06 will be Dewitt Jones. Jones is a two-time Academy Awards-nominated director and the author of nine books. Using his own photographs as illustration, he will instruct symposium attendees on how to maximize their creative potential.
