Siemens introduced a new digital mobile x-ray system at the November 2014 RSNA meeting in Chicago, Illinois. According to the announcement from Siemens, its Mobilett Mira Max system features the company’s MAX (Multiple Advances in X-Ray) functionality, with intuitive operation for everyday tasks (MAX assistance); and high image quality (MAX detection).

“Today, mobile x-ray systems have to meet the highest demands in terms of user-friendliness and image quality, and with Mobilett Mira Max we have developed the right system for the job,” said André Hartung, CEO of Siemens Healthcare’s X-Ray Products (XP) Business Unit. “The MAX functionalities, we fully meet the wishes of our customers.”

According to the company, the new x-ray system is equipped with a special tube arm, for nearly unrestricted visibility when it is being moved. The tube arm can also be rotated 180 degrees, enabling it to be positioned at the patient’s bedside. An integrated detector allows for easy maneuverability of the system, which comes with a PIN code option to lock and unlock it, eliminating the need for a physical key.

Siemens reports that the Mobilett Mira Max, which includes interchangeable detectors, runs on batteries but can be switched to an external supply so x-ray images can be generated immediately, even if the system batteries are completely empty.
