When doing carotid studies with an Acuson Sequoia using a 15L8 probe there is an intermittent problem of the color fill not always showing up when blood flows are normal. Adjusting the gain setting does not help and the probe checks out fine. What could be the cause? Thanks.

To acquire a good color Doppler image, multiple setting must be adjusted on the Sequoia system. Start by selecting the carotid presets on the system, then adjust the gain, scale, position, and angle of the color box.

If the failure persists after adjusting all of the above using a good ultrasound probe, the system most likely is causing the problem.

Whenever the color Doppler problem is present, check the quality of the audio and spectral components of the PW imaging mode. If it is only in color, replacing the CSD board will fix it.
