Exclusive to Ultrasound: A 24X7 Community—Hoping to meet what it expects will be a growing demand for service, Axess Ultrasound, Indianapolis, now offers full repair capabilities for pediatric transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) probes.

Axess—an independent service organization—provides ultrasound service, probe and system repair, ultrasound technician training, and ultrasound parts.

Transesophageal echocardiograms are performed by inserting a probe with a transducer down the esophagus, providing a clearer image of the heart because the sound waves do not have to pass through skin, muscle, or bone. Pediatric TEE probes are particularly delicate instruments, used for cardiac ultrasound imaging on newborns and infants. Yet, they are used in particularly demanding clinical environments and are subject to a variety of hazards, any of which can result in damage to an expensive piece of equipment.
