Siemens Healthcare has announced that it has signed a contract worth €110 million (C$154 million) with William Osler Health System, based in Ontario, Canada. According to the terms of the 15-year managed equipment services agreement, Siemens will provide Osler’s three hospital sites with a suite of management services and solutions for the majority of its medical imaging equipment. The deal marks one of the company’s largest contract awards in North America and the first of its type in Canada.
William Osler is one of Canada’s largest community hospitals and serves a community of more than 1.3 million people. The health system currently comprises two sites, including Etobicoke General Hospital and Brampton Civic Hospital. A third location, Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, is scheduled for substantial completion by fall 2016.
The agreement with Siemens covers the procurement, replacement, and maintenance for approximately 190 pieces of vendor-neutral diagnostic imaging equipment for radiology and cardiology. The items include ultrasound and x-ray equipment, angiography solutions, computed tomography scanners, magnetic resonance systems, and molecular imaging equipment. As part of the contract, Siemens Healthcare will also provide financing and clinical solutions, professional services, room renovations, training for clinical users, and onsite technical support.
