Shimadzu Medical Systems has chosen Konica Minolta’s AeroDR as the exclusive flat-panel detector for the newly designed MobileDaRt MX7i portable digital radiography (DR) system. The result of a collaborative effort between the two companies, this new system is Shimadzu’s flagship mobile radiology solution.

The solution integrates Konica Minolta’s AeroDR panels into Shimadzu’s x-ray portable system and proprietary software. This offering is appropriate for use in a variety of portable imaging environments, including the intensive care unit, the operating room, the neonatal intensive care unit, and the emergency room.

Mobile x-ray systems are used in acute-care settings when the patient cannot be brought to the radiology department. A mobile DR provider, Shimadzu added digital x-ray capability to its MobileArt system, a portable system using only film and/or computed radiography technology, in 2005.

“The new MobileDaRt MX7i showcases the value of both the Shimadzu DR200 software advances and the innovative design of AeroDR detectors to provide what will surely be the next award-winning solution for mobile x-ray imaging,” says Konica Minolta Medical Imaging’s Dan Baskel..

Eric Sumner, executive vice president, the Americas at Konica Minolta Medical Imaging, echoes Baskel’s sentiments, saying: “The partnership between Konica Minolta Medical Imaging and Shimadzu Medical Systems is built on a collective vision and commitment to provide our customers with solutions that will improve workflow and patient outcomes.”
