A pioneering biomed took time away from his day job and made a month-long trip to Antarctica. When he got there, he successfully shaped-up clinical facilities that hadn’t seen a service pro in ten years. His personal tale is a story of biomedical exploration, humbling natural grandeur and appreciation of his remote control.
As the C-130 cargo plane landed, I said to myself, “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.” The raw, awesome beauty held my breath like a faulty ventilator. I had reached the last place on the face of the Earth that had not been spoiled; Mother Nature in her purest form … pristine and proud … and She was in charge! My heart raced with anticipation as the cargo doors lowered. I was the first BMET sent to Antarctica in ten years … and my adventure had begun.
