In an effort to provide hospitals and health systems with another tool to manage the flow of patients and people in the facility, Stanley Healthcare, Waltham, Mass, will partner with Connexient Inc, New York, to add the MediNav Navigator 2.0 Indoor Navigation and Digital Wayfinding solution to its AeroScout RTLS solutions platform. MediNav 2.0, powered by Bluetooth low energy beacons, is a cloud-based SaaS solution featuring indoor positioning technology designed to provide a door-to-door approach to wayfinding and location services for patients, visitors, and staff. According to Connexient, it can also be integrated with EHR appointment scheduling systems to reduce missed or late appointments and drive a personalized patient experience.
MediNav features include a HIPAA-compliant SMS appointment reminder with a link to the mobile application; securely displayed appointment details, along with a recommended parking garage (based on the interior location of the appointment) and turn-by-turn driving directions; and a welcome screen that offers the patient eCheck-in options and indoor navigation to his or her appointment. At the same time, hospital staff is notified of the patient’s arrival. The companies report that this end-to-end management of the patient journey is intended to enable hospitals to address some of the most common complaints on surveys conducted by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS), such as difficulties with wayfinding and parking.
MediNav’s location-based reporting and analytics on patient, visitor, and staff workflows and dwell times is aimed at giving hospital administrators intelligence to improve the patient experience, drive higher HCAHPS scores, capture lost revenues by reducing missed appointments, and improve staff efficiency by reducing time lost directing patients. The solution supports web, mobile, digital signage, and kiosk screens.
