I have a Vivid 7 ultrasound. The techs say they have to turn the power to max to be able to see the image well. I have checked the unit with a tissue phantom and I have not been able to see a problem. Also, performed DC offset calibration for beamformer boards. Probe has been switched and staff still is having a problem.

Possible causes of the problem in order of probability:

User presets are set incorrectly;
Monitor’s contrast and brightness settings are set incorrectly;
Monitor is experiencing video decay after reaching operating temperature;
Monitor’s contrast and brightness controls are faulty;
Beamformer boards are having power issues;
RF board is having power issues;
Transmit power supply is having power fluctuations.
