The annual one-day symposium of the Washington State Biomedical Association (WSBA) on Saturday, March 28, in Seattle, set a record for attendance. According to WSBA representatives, 92 biomeds attended this year, nearly double last year’s numbers. In addition, 25 companies exhibited at the event. Show organizers attributed the growth to increased publicity efforts, a change in venue from a local community college to a hotel, and a partnership with the Oregon Biomedical Association, whose members were invited to attend free of charge.

The event was headlined by Patrick Lynch of Global Medical Imaging, who spoke on the value of the cost of service ratio as a performance metric for HTM departments. Other speakers included Valdez Bravo, VA Portland Health Care System, on engaging the C-suite; Shane Criddle, Spacelabs Healthcare, on the evolution of technology and what it means for biomeds; Jim Rickner, Conquest Imaging, on preforming ACR-compliant ultrasound PMs; and Devin Casey, GE Healthcare, on the basics of MRI technology.
