The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation recently gave its website a facelift, rolling out a new design the association calls “bold and modern.” Other key changes include mobile optimization for smartphones and tablet devices, as well as single sign-on for members.
Barbara Saxton, website director for AAMI, says the changes come as the association is expanding its activities with a number of new publications, products, and initiatives. The organization felt it was important that the website keep pace with those efforts, while streamlining AAMI’s internal processes and content organization.
With the new design, members can sign on once and then proceed to the member area without having to log in a second time. “Key content remains online and is easy to find. If anything, there is more content online now than ever before,” Saxton said. “Most of the material has custom links that use both the old and new AAMI URLs. There’s also a new search and site map. As the users navigate through the site, they can use the breadcrumbs at the top of the page, as well as the navigation on the left.”
While members shouldn’t expect any more immediate updates, Saxton says the site will continue to evolve. “With the rate that technology is changing, we can’t say that we won’t change the website again. We have to stay open to future improvements and answer the needs of our members.”
I think Mrs. Sexton has done a really tremendous job in improving the ease of use and attractiveness of the website.
