Biomeds with questions about how to maximize efficiency through performance measuring, and how to get started, should plan to attend ECRI Institute’s upcoming Web conference, “Benchmarking: Best Practices for Clinical Engineering.”

The conference will provide insight on some of the uncertainties regarding benchmarking, including best practices from the field. It will be held on November 19 from 1 to 2:30 pm EST, and will feature presentations by four industry professionals, plus a question and answer session with the experts.

Presenters will review the challenges and opportunities of implementing benchmarking into a hospital system, as well as give presentations on the following topics:

  • How benchmarking practices can help decrease time spent on unnecessary equipment maintenance;
  • What metrics to focus on when benchmarking biomedical service operations;
  • Recommended approaches for intrahospital benchmarking and peer-to-peer benchmarking; and
  • Perspectives and lessons learned in large and small health care systems.
