The disinfectant is designed for use in compatible automated systems to support the safe reuse of endoscopes.
Whiteley Corp, an Australian manufacturer of infection prevention and medical device reprocessing technologies, has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its Endox endoscope disinfectant and sterilant system.
Endox is a peracetic acid-based high-level disinfectant and sterilant designed for use in compatible automated endoscope reprocessors to support the reprocessing of endoscopes and related accessories.
Effective endoscope reprocessing remains a central concern for healthcare facilities working to prevent healthcare-associated infections, according to a release from Whiteley Corp. Endox has been developed to provide high-level disinfection and sterilization capabilities within compatible automated endoscope reprocessing systems, with validated processing parameters intended to support efficient clinical workflows.
“Achieving this FDA approval for Endox is a tremendous accomplishment for the Whiteley business, and reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, scientific rigour and healthcare infection prevention,” says Greg Whiteley, PhD, in a release. “Endox represents the application of Australian manufacturing capability and technical expertise to the evolving needs of medical device reprocessing. We look forward to building on this achievement as we expand our international presence and work with healthcare partners to support improved reprocessing practices.”
The US clearance follows existing approval for Endox in Canada.
Established in 1933, Whiteley Corporation develops and manufactures liquid medical devices for infection prevention, medical device reprocessing, medical hand hygiene, and professional hygiene applications. The company says the FDA clearance reinforces its strategy to extend reprocessing technologies into additional international markets.
