In response to mounting interest from industry professionals, members of the biomedical engineering community in Arizona have joined forces to establish the Arizona Biomedical Association (ABA).
The organization’s mission is to promote, educate, and spur the exchange of information among the state’s clinical biomedical engineering community through regular meetings and technical workshops.
The ABA’s membership would be comprised of hospital medical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, independent service organizations and equipment manufacturers’ sales and service engineers, educators, students, and others interested in the field of medical instrumentation.
During the first organizing meeting in March 2008—details to be determined—in the Phoenix area, discussion topics will include creating an official name for the group, determining if it should be statewide or regional, the format and frequency of meetings, dues, and possibly nominating its leaders and board members.
Conquest Imaging and the AAMI Technology Management Committee have committed support but the organization needs the participation of industry professionals in the area to ensure the group’s success. Express your interest and ideas by registering online at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AZBiomeds.
