The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is asking health care technology management (HTM) departments to share specific examples of how they are enhancing patient safety, reducing costs, and/or improving hospital processes as part of the annual “Bright Ideas” contest. This competition, sponsored by AAMI’s Technology Management Council (TMC), recognizes the best and brightest examples of how HTM is making an important difference in implementing creative ideas to improve healthcare.
To participate, interested departments should identify a challenge that was faced, how the problem was solved, and the positive result using the online form. The deadline is Friday, October 14.
A TMC task force will select six submissions to be profiled in AAMI’s peer-reviewed journal, BI&T, throughout 2017. From those six finalists, one will be selected to receive an excellence award at AAMI’s annual conference
“This is a fantastic opportunity for HTM departments to showcase their problem-solving skills and commitment to patient safety,” says Patrick Bernat, AAMI’s director of HTM. “Being profiled in BI&T offers great visibility to those six finalists and serves as a model to other departments across the country.”
Recent examples of “Bright Ideas” articles published in BI&T can be found on the TMC’s webpage.
