The AAMI Credentials Institute has announced the launch of its certified healthcare technology manager (CHTM) certification. Intended to attest to a professional’s skills and core competencies, the certification addresses two key areas: management of healthcare technology operations and management of personnel.

Healthcare technology managers are responsible for overseeing the activities of other HTM professionals, as well as helping lead the business enterprise at their facilities. According to AAMI, healthcare technology managers are expected to demonstrate the necessary skills and understanding to make strategic and business decisions, perform change management, and monitor their employees’ work. Recertification requirements for CHTM certification include work experience and continuing education to demonstrate sustained competency and knowledge in the HTM field.

A number of resources are available at AAMI’s CHTM portal, including links to the CHTM application, handbook, and educational resources. Those submitting applications by April 25 are eligible to take the exam during the June 2015 testing window. The deadline to register for the summer testing period is July 25.
