On Thursday, May 1, the Clinical Engineering & IT (CE-IT) Community Town Hall will host a virtual roundtable to discuss recently proposed FDASIA regulations. Scheduled for 1:00 to 2:30 pm Eastern time, the roundtable will be moderated by Elliot B. Sloane, PhD, president of the CHIRP Center for Healthcare Information Research and Policy.
The subject of the roundtable is a 34-page report released on April 3 by the Department of Health & Human Services that proposes a new, three-tier regulatory framework for health information technology. The FDA, together with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology and the Federal Communications Commission, is currently seeking comments on the proposed rules.
The stated purpose of the roundtable is to discuss the draft framework, ahead of FDA’s public workshop scheduled for May 13-15 at NIST headquarters.
The CE-IT Community is a collaborative effort among AAMI, ACCE, and HIMSS to address health IT issues. Registration for the roundtable is free and can be completed online.
