Royal Philips Electronics, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, plans to acquire Dixtal Biomédica e Tecnologia, São Paulo, Brazil, a manufacturer of in-hospital patient monitoring, anesthesia, and ventilation equipment, and ECG.

Dixtal will dovetail into Philips’ patient monitoring business in the health care sector, and its financial results should be consolidated into the business by the third quarter of 2008. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The company‘s latest foray into high-growth health care markets in emerging economies follows its earlier acquisitions of health care companies Shenzhen Goldway Industrial in China and VMI Sistemas Medicos in Brazil.
