A new line of survey meters from Radcal Corp, Monrovia, Calif, is designed to measure exposure rates from leakage and scatter radiation around diagnostic and therapeutic x-ray rooms. Comprising three models, the RSM, RSM1 and RSM*, the meters consist of a pressurized ion chamber meter which can be used for a variety of medical and health physics applications.
All logged data can be written in CSV format to a standard USB thumb drive for retrieval by a spreadsheet or database program. Alarms are manifested using color changes on the 256K display and via audio output. While the model RSM is the most popular for surveys, the RSM1 is a low-pressure chamber in a non-Hazmat version. The RSM* provides ICRU-based ambient equivalent dose measurements.
