When evaluating probes during a PM, how many bad elements are OK before it starts affecting Doppler readings? –
Dead elements on the probe will reduce the quality of Doppler information. When you move the color box over an area with weak/dead elements, you see degradation in the Color Doppler quality. These effects are more visible on a linear probe versus a phased array one. A couple of weak elements on the edges of a probe might not warrant an immediate replacement. Such probes should be monitored and replaced as soon as the weak elements turn into dead ones.
