Sonitor Technologies has introduced the SmartTag Mini to its Sonitor Sense RTLS open integration platform. The multi-use RTLS tag provides hospitals with real-time location tracking for patients, staff, and small mobile equipment and is designed for applications such as patient wandering, infant protection, and theft prevention. According to the company, the new tag is the smallest full-feature tag currently available on the market.
About half the size of Sonitor’s current smart tag model, the SmartTag Mini instantaneously communicates a change in its position within 1 to 3 seconds over a facility’s Wi-Fi network. The tag’s waterproof design facilitates sterilization and enables patients to shower or bathe while wearing the tag. An optional tamper-proof feature triggers an alert in the event of non-compliant removal by patients. Equipped with two programmable buttons that can initiate a variety of notifications, the tag also features multi-colored LEDs that provide visual confirmation of button activation. The tag is customizable to specific color and logo preferences.
The SmartTag Mini incorporates Sonitor Technologies’ proprietary ultrasound positioning technology and comes with an extended battery life for low maintenance costs. The company is displaying the tag at the HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago, April 12–16, 2015. For more information, visit the Sonitor Technologies website, or its HIMSS booth (#6448).
