The new automated breast ultrasound system and web-based viewer are designed to enhance screening for patients with dense breasts and streamline multi-site workflows.
GE HealthCare announced the launch of Invenia ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound) Prime and ABUS StreamVue, a redesigned enterprise viewer. These solutions are intended to support supplemental screening for women with dense breasts and offer flexible exam review across healthcare networks.
The technology aims to help breast imaging programs standardize three-dimensional ultrasound acquisition, support remote reading, and simplify deployment across multi-site environments. According to research conducted in the US and Europe, 40% of women have dense breasts; these women have a 4 to 6 times higher risk of developing breast cancer. Dense tissue can also make cancers more difficult to detect on a mammogram, and research indicates that mammography may miss one-third of cancers in these patients.

Enhanced Imaging and Workflow Features
The Invenia Automated Breast Ultrasound Prime system includes artificial intelligence-enabled tools for scan quality assessment and automatic nipple detection. It also features a tool designed to increase scan speed by up to 40%, a new-generation transducer, and selectable compression levels to improve the patient experience.
When used alongside mammography, the system is intended to support earlier cancer detection and operational consistency in multi-site imaging environments. The system also utilizes artificial intelligence-supported reading designed to streamline the review process.
The second solution, ABUS StreamVue, is a zero-footprint, browser-based reading platform. GE HealthCare is collaborating with Candelis, Inc to provide this technology, which allows clinicians to review exams remotely from various locations within an enterprise imaging network.

Clinical Implementation and Regulatory Status
BeSound in Los Angeles is among the first facilities in the US to install the Invenia Automated Breast Ultrasound Prime system. The organization also plans to launch a mobile screening unit to bring these imaging services closer to patients.

Invenia Automated Breast Ultrasound Prime is US Food and Drug Administration Premarket approved and CE Marked. ABUS StreamVue is US Food and Drug Administration 510(k) cleared and CE Marked. Availability of these systems is subject to local regulatory approvals and may vary by country.
