Three new Vivid systems target different cardiovascular imaging settings and have received CE Mark, with US FDA clearance pending.


GE HealthCare announced three additions to its Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio—Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced, and Vivid Focus—each designed to address specific imaging and workflow requirements across various cardiology care settings. The systems are being featured at the ESC Congress 2026 in Munich, Germany.

The global population of individuals living with cardiovascular disease has doubled since 1991, increasing the demand for technology that can function across routine echocardiography, diagnostic assessments, and image-guided procedures, according to a release from GE HealthCare.

“The imaging needs of an echo lab, a cardiology practice, and an interventional environment are not the same, and we’ve spent a lot of time with care teams in each of those settings to understand where technology can make the greatest difference,” says Jyoti Gera, CEO, cardiovascular and interventional solutions, advanced imaging solutions, GE HealthCare, in a release. “Developing Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus on the same foundation as Vivid Pioneer allows us to meet these unique needs while creating a more connected family of systems that deliver Vivid performance and the Vivid experience.”

Tailored Clinical Systems

The expanded portfolio now includes four systems built on a shared technology foundation, with each unit targeting different aspects of cardiovascular care.

Vivid Explorer is intended for high-volume echo labs and routine interventional procedures. It features advanced 4D, multi-plane, and 2D imaging capabilities, along with AI and automation tools to support cardiac workflows.

Vivid Advanced is designed for mid-size hospitals and cardiology practices requiring broad cardiac imaging, as well as vascular, abdominal, and soft-tissue imaging.

Vivid Focus utilizes cSound imaging technology for everyday cardiac imaging and includes a new probe and AI-enabled workflow tools.

The company also released the latest version of EchoPAC Software Only v211. This platform allows clinicians to review and analyze studies on-site or remotely using tools consistent with the new ultrasound systems.

Imaging Architecture and Automation

All three new systems utilize cSound, a software-based imaging architecture. This technology is designed to optimize contrast, resolution, and tissue visualization through advanced processing.

The systems incorporate AI-enabled tools to streamline routine echo workflows, including AI Auto Measure 2D, Easy AutoEF, and AI Cardiac Auto Doppler. These features are intended to reduce manual steps and simplify measurements like ejection fraction.

The hardware offers battery-supported operation and a power-saving mode to assist clinicians moving between clinical environments.

Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced, Vivid Focus, and EchoPAC Software Only v211 have received the CE Mark. However, the systems and software are currently 510(k) pending with the US FDA and are not available for sale in the US.
