Longmont, Colo.-based Acertara Acoustic Laboratories, an independent ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited medical ultrasound acoustic measurement, testing, and calibration laboratory, and ISO13485:2003 certified probe repair and new product development facility, announces that its CEO, G. Wayne Moore, has been elected as the 2018 Chair of the Ultrasound Section for the Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA/NEMA).
The MITA Ultrasound (UD) Section is charged with overseeing and directing MITA activity specific to ultrasound imaging. The goals of the UD Section are to serve as a forum for sharing, discussing, and determining action on regulatory and legislative developments of importance to members; act as point-of-contact for external enquiries to MITA regarding ultrasound; contribute ultrasound-specific expertise to MITA; increase patient access to new ultrasound technology and applications; and improve safety for workers and patients around ultrasound equipment.
As the chair, Moore will lead the UD as it participates in the development of new domestic and international regulatory and standards activities related to ultrasound. Commenting on this appointment, Moore says: “I am honored to be elected as the chair for 2018. There are so many very bright people from various original equipment manufacturers in this section that I am humbled by my selection.”
Moore adds: “As a manufacturer of ultrasound test devices, I want to ensure that all aspects of the proper use and testing of ultrasound systems and probes are addressed in the regulatory and standards development world. Being part of MITA affords me that opportunity.”
