MR Solutions is celebrating a research and development award recently received by its preclinical scanner, the MRS 7000. One of the recipients of the U.S.-based R&D 100 Awards, the compact MRS 7000 series is the world’s first 7.0 Tesla helium-free, preclinical MRI system; it can be combined with photo-emission CT and SPECT imaging modules.

Considered one of the highest honors in research and development, the R&D 100 Awards are often referred to as the “Oscars of Invention.” The awards are organized by R&D magazine, and MR Solutions was selected as a winner in the analytical/test category by a panel of more than 50 judges.

MR Solutions CEO David Taylor spoke out about the award, saying: “This, coupled with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2016 for innovation, which we were awarded earlier this year, is recognition of the innovation and hard work that our staff have put in.

“We believe that these new scanners can make a real difference particularly in the development of new medical treatments due to their state-of-the-art imaging at a much lower cost,” Taylor adds.
