Worcester-based UMass Memorial Health Care has selected Agfa HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging Solution for installation. The largest health care provider in Central Massachusetts, UMass Memorial Health Care is comprised of four hospitals and a physician practice with more than 1,700 physicians.

With this technology, UMass Memorial Health Care will have access to the latest health care interoperability standards on a virtual infrastructure that provides integration flexibility and neutrality. Once the imaging suite is installed, clinicians throughout the system will have access to radiological images across the care continuum.

With the Enterprise Imaging platform, health systems can consolidate hardware, storage, and software, while providing imaging data to clinicians—regardless of the clinician’s physical location. Additionally, the Enterprise Imaging platform can be adopted on a modular basis and targeted at specific clinical use cases.

“Our team at UMass Memorial believes Agfa HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging solution is a good fit with the current needs and future vision for our health care system,” says Max Rosen, MD, MPH, chairman of radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center. “We needed to address the evolving imaging informatics needs of our health care system. After an extensive evaluation of clinical and technical capabilities, we chose Agfa HealthCare’s Enterprise Imaging solution.”

Frank Pecaitis, Agfa HealthCare’s senior vice president of North America sales, adds: “UMass Memorial went to market for an integrated imaging and informatics system and acknowledged their option to select multiple vendors and solutions. Over the course of the evaluation, the benefits our single software platform became crystal clear.”
