On August 6, the Healthcare Technology Management Association of South Carolina will host a discussion about the future of local biomed organizations across the country. The discussion is free and open to the public via conference call.

At the heart of the discussion lies the question, “Does the biomedical community need a new version of a professional association?” Many people live far from an existing or active biomed organization. Starting and maintaining an organization can be a daunting task.

In response to these challenges, some have suggested that an existing national organization assume an organizational and administrative leadership role in creating and maintaining local organizations. The national organization would grant charters to local organizations, which would have the latitude to serve the needs of their members in different ways.

This conference call is meant to discuss this idea—its pros and cons, how it might be implemented best, etc.

The call begins at noon, eastern. Register here.
